Plan Your Visit While reservations are appreciated, walk-ins are always welcome. Bring the whole family—leashed dogs and children are invited to enjoy our terrace and grounds. Pair your tasting with our curated small bites or bring your own picnic.
Choose Your Setting Sample wines in our welcoming tasting room or on our terrace overlooking the estate vineyards. Seasonally, we also offer private tours followed by a seated tasting in our caves. 72-hour notice and appointment required for tours.

Do I Need A reservation to Visit Appassionata Estate?
Reservations are appreciated, but not required. Walk-in groups of up to seven guests are always welcome for our Estate Tastings. We kindly request reservations for groups of eight or more. We’re open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Our private Barrel Cave Tour & Tasting requires an advance reservation of at least 72 hours. Tours are unavailable September – November due to harvest.
What Tasting Experiences Are Available at Appassionata Estate?
We offer two distinct ways to experience Appassionata. Our signature Estate Tasting features a guided selection of aged Pinot Noir and white wines, enjoyed indoors or on our vineyard terrace. For a more immersive experience, our private Barrel Cave Tour & Tasting takes you through the vineyard and winery before a seated tasting in our underground barrel caves.
How Much Does A Wine Tasting Cost?
Our Estate Tasting is $30 per person, with one tasting fee waived for every two bottles purchased or with enrollment in any wine club.
Our Private Barrel Cave Tour & Tasting is $75 per person, with one tasting fee waived for every six bottles purchased. Club members receive two complimentary tour & tasting experiences, with additional guests at $40 per person.
How Long Does A Tasting Experience Take?
Plan for approximately 75-90 minutes for our Estate Tasting, and 90-120 minutes for our Barrel Cave Tour & Tasting. Both experiences offer time to explore the wines, their evolution through aging, and the philosophy behind each release.
Can I Taste Both Appassionata And J. Christopher Wines During My Visit?
Appassionata Estate and J. Christopher share a tasting room, but each offers its own distinct tasting flight. All guests in your party must choose the same flight. Depending on availability, bonus pours from either collection may be offered at the end of your tasting. Bottle service and wine by the glass are always available. For our summer Friday Night Music series, we only offer wines by the glass and bottle.
Can I Enjoy My Tasting Indoors or Outdoors?
Yes! Our Estate Tastings are offered in our indoor tasting room or outdoors on the terrace overlooking the estate vineyard and Chehalem Mountains. Our Barrel Cave Tour & Tasting includes a seated tasting in our underground barrel caves.
Can You Accommodate Large Groups?

Are Children and Dogs Welcome At Appassionata Estate?
Yes! Families are welcome at the estate, and well-behaved dogs are welcome on a leash on our outdoor terrace.
Do You Serve Food, Or Can I Bring My Own?
Both! We offer a small selection of bites to complement your tasting, and you’re welcome to bring your own picnic or light snacks.

Appassionata Estate is located at 17150 NE Hillside Drive in Newberg, Oregon, nestled in the Chehalem Mountains of the Willamette Valley. The estate is also home to J. Christopher Wines, with both brands offering their own distinct wines and tasting experiences. We’re just outside Newberg and an easy day trip from Portland.
Is Parking Available At The Estate?
Yes! On-site parking is available, including ADA parking and accessible walkways. Accommodations for larger vehicles, including trucks and RVs, are also available.
